Which harness works best to a dog from pulling so much? My dog pulls constantly on a walk and it's driving me crazy. Right now, I use a basic harness as seen here: http://www.petco.com/product/106746/Petmate-Signature-by-Aspen-Pet-Adjustable-Dog-Harness-in-Autumn-Red.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch
She's a 50 lbs. dog and can almost pull me with her when she really gets going.
Any recommendations for a harness that stops the pulling?
Of course she can pull you.....what do sled dogs wear to pull the sled?? Harnesses, of course. You're empowering the strongest part of her body to take you where SHE wants to go.
Recommend a prong collar if she's really a heavy puller. They look scary but work great. I always have people in my classes who are afraid of them but as soon as I have them put the collar on their arms and pull, they're convinced, and their dogs are suddenly great on the leash. ![]()
If a prong collar isn't for you, consider a gentle leader type harness that goes around the muzzle. I don't recommend them for really strong or aggressive/boisterous dogs, but some people prefer them.
