To teach a small breed puppy (six months old) to walk on a leash? What is the best collar to use? A harness was suggested by the pet shop. I've trained bigger dogs with choke chains but this is the smallest dog I have ever trained. I am hesitant to train with a collar (even a buckle one) because I don't want to hurt the dog.
i too am a trainer and i would suggest a small cat collar. training with a harness does not give that 'im an owner and you're my dog' mental image that you're trying to get across. collars are ery affective too because you can stop aggression and there is a sensor point (that I find) that is on the dogs neck that makes them listen better.
